When we were at the library last week, taking every book there home with us, I managed to pick up a few Amelia Bedelia books along with my slew of others. We sat down for some reading time on Tuesday morning before lunch, and we entered the wonderful world of Amelia Bedelia.
We read Play Ball, Amelia Bedelia. Jenny loved it. After I got done reading, I decided to ask her some comprehension questions, to see if she was actually listening and understanding what was going on in the story. She was. She knew all the answers and could even “re-tell” the story to me! I was pretty impressed – we’ll definitely be visiting the world of Amelia Bedelia again soon!
Another book we’ve been enjoying this week (and for a few weeks now) is our bedtime book. A few weeks ago we decided to start a new routine of reading together just before bed. We read a chapter/story from The Jesus Storybook Bible each night, instilling a solid foundation for the Gospel into the kids. Jenny loves this Bible, not only for the illustrations, but also because she is starting to see Jesus in God’s Plan throughout the history of the world!
This is a book that we will read over and over and over again through the years. I plan to continue to read a story from this Bible each night for years to come!
