Today is Jump Day. At least for me. All the pieces have come together, and I am taking the plunge. The mailman jump came and emptied the mailbox, taking with him the final pieces of my application process for school. At this point, it will take a big door slamming for me to back out…
Family
Snowy Books & Snowman Soup
School was canceled yesterday on account of the teacher being absent (which also resulted in the student being absent, since she went with the teacher)! We made a day trip to Fort Wayne to spend some time with one of my lifelong best friends. So, since we didn’t have school yesterday, we decided to do…
Bad choices with scissors…
We were having a great time in school today, using scissors to cut out snowflakes. Mommy left the room for a minute, and came back to find a hole in the pack’n’play. We’ve lost our scissors til March (or til Mommy decides she can trust us with them again). (But our snowflakes turned out pretty!)
It’s going to be a yearly tradition…
We definitely enjoyed our time away this past weekend. We headed up to Shipshewana, just over an hour away, to Splash Universe. They have a very nice resort, complete with Clear Spring Restaurant (owned by Blue Gate, for those of you who know it), a kid-friendly waterpark, arcade, workout facility, and more. We stayed in…
Great Stocking Stuffers from WaterBrook/Multnomah
WaterBrook/Multnomah sent me two of their “value books” to read and review. These books, and others in these lines, would make great stocking stuffers this holiday season. “It’s inevitable – worry and stress will attack us all. And when they do, how we fight back makes the difference between succumbing and overcoming. Whether your anxieties…
Loads and loads of pictures…
While we were in Michigan this past weekend for Thanksgiving, Jason’s sister Holly took some pictures for us. I’ve posted them on my Facebook account… you can click this link to see them. Here are a few to whet your interest!
Fall Fun Blog Tour from Waterbrook/Multnomah
This month I had a chance to read three fun books from Waterbrook/Multnomah Publishers. I really enjoyed each of these three light and easy reads. Piper Wick left her hometown of Pickwick, North Carolina, twelve years ago, shook the dust off her feet, ditched her drawl and her family name, and made a new life…
Jenny can READ!!
I got a set of books from the library today for beginning readers, thinking that Jenny might be able to start working on them. I was SOOOO excited when she was able to sound out the words in the first book and we were able to read it together! She LOVED being able to read…
"Find Your Strongest Life" by Marcus Buckingham
“What the Happiest and Most Successful Women Do Differently”… this subtitle is the premise of the book. Marcus Buckingham delves into the world of a woman and picks it apart, looking for the stressers and the de-stressers alike. From the inside flap of the book: “Have you given up on ‘having it all’? Or maybe…
The Frontiersman’s Daughter by Laura Frantz
At first glance, this book looks to be an easy, enjoyable read. However, within the first twenty pages, I found myself struggling to stick with the story. (The language of this book is “settler-English” and at times is difficult to follow the sentence structure.) All that to say, I actually enjoyed the book quite a…
