And in thinking about our favorite Dr. Seuss books, I realized that I don’t know where one of them is! I can’t even remember the last time I saw it, and it’s not on either kid’s bookshelf. (Mom, is the fish book at your house?)
One Fish, Two Fish, Three, Four, Five Fish (Dr. Seuss Nursery Collection)
This is a great counting book, as well as a color and opposite book. Based on the classic “One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish“, it’s a great book for toddlers and preschoolers who are not yet ready to read on their own. The fish on top (at least on ours) move back and forth, and it’s a board book, which is great for kids who like to chew on the books (ahem).
The Cat in the Hat
This is obviously the most well-known Dr. Seuss book. Jenny has a TAG Reader edition of this book (actually, she has two of them – anybody want to buy the second one from us at a discount?). A classic book, perfect for the beginning reader.
Big Blue Book of Beginner Books
While not an actual Dr. Seuss book, each of the books in this book are written in the style of Dr. Seuss. This book houses some of our favorite “I Can Read It All By Myself” beginner books: The Best Nest, Are You My Mother, and Put Me in the Zoo (which we also have a solo copy of, and love).
Happy Birthday, Dr. Seuss!
