Somehow God knew we were going to need to have this unit this week. It’s funny, since when I checked my rough schedule of units, we were actually supposed to have this unit last week and the Parents unit this week. God knew better.
Other than the books we’ve been reading, we really have had any Sibling activities, but oh have we had the opportunity to talk about what it means to be a good sister! This week has been FULL of teachable moments in regards to be a good sister – learning how to share, helping to take care of a little brother, being a good example, etc. It’s been fun to see how our unit matches up with our lives!
The activities we’ve done this week have centered on handwriting. I’ve printed a few pages of lined paper for Jenny, then taken a highlighter and written words (her name) and numbers for her to trace and then try to recreate. She does pretty well with the tracing, and can recreate the letters/numbers but not in proportion to the lines. When I hold her wrist (to contain her motions), she actually has very nice handwriting. But when I don’t hold her wrist, her strokes are large and all over the page. We’ll continue to work on control.
If you have any activity ideas for our unit this week, I’d love to hear your suggestions! We’re going to need a few more activities to get us through the rest of the week!
