Tuesdays we go to 2’s Story Time at the library, so Jenny likes to pick a book out on her way into the “little kids” story time in case it’s “too young” for her. (We go to 3’s Story Time later in the week, too.) Since we have to walk past the new releases on our way to the story time room, she gets to choose a book from there.
Today, she chose Please Write Back as her book. We checked it out after story time and had a chance to read it on our way home while waiting for our oil to be changed in our van.
This afternoon, she brought me the book and asked if she could write a letter to Grandma, just like Alfie did in the story. I printed out a piece of writing paper, copied Alfie’s letter from the book onto a dry-erase board, and she got to work.
I love it when books we read lead to writing exercises and other activities!
