Science lessons can happen anywhere or anytime.
Such was the case on one warm day in the middle of May where we enjoyed an afternoon of Sidewalk Chalk Science, learning all about ROY G BIV and Rainbows.
Jenny wanted to go outside and play, but it was too hot to be in the sun, so I sent her out on the back patio w/ a box of chalk. A little while later she came to my office window, imploring me to come see her pictures.
When I came to the patio door, I saw that she had drawn a rainbow – though the colors of the rainbow were random and not “scientifically correct.”
I decided that it was a good time to teach her the colors of the rainbow – and the order in which they go. I introduced her to ROY G BIV, and we each took a turn drawing a “scientifically correct” rainbow.
Anytime is a good time for science!
