I’m tired. The last several weeks have been draining, to say the least, and the end of this current season of life is still weeks (or possibly months) off. My strength is zapped.
I don’t know about you, but when I’m tired, I turn into a grouch and a “mean Mommy.” Parenting in my own strength and power isn’t very pretty. I need to put on my superhero parent cape and tap into the Source of my super strength.
“But he said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me. For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong.” [2 Corinthians 12:9-10, ESV]
“Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. “ [Ephesians 6:10, ESV]
Today’s post isn’t long and it isn’t complicated. It’s simple. Put on Christ, see your kids as God sees them, and don’t try to do this parenting gig in your own strength – rely on His strength to get you through the day.
God, I am so tired. When I try to parent my kids in my own strength, I fail. I become someone I don’t like very much. Teach me to rely on Your strength instead of my own. Help me to be the best superhero parent I can be by tapping into the Source of my super power, including my super strength. Help me rest in You, accepting that in my weaknesses You show Yourself to be strong in and through me.
