100 Days of Summertime

100 Days of Summertime

Since we made the decision to send the kids to school in the fall, I’ve begun to realize that my days with them at home all day are numbered. And while that’s a good thing, I’m also wanting to make the most of the time we have together this summer, so I was excited to discover that ListPlanIt has an eBook that is geared toward helping me have an intentional summer with my kids!

Jennifer Tankersley, author of 100 Days of Summertime, says:

Summer is a valuable family time, but it also an excellent time for training. I want to teach my children life skills, responsibility, and self-fulfillment. I don’t want to see their education come to a complete halt over the summer. My goal is to encourage my children to continue to learn through play, books, and experiences. However, there’s a lot of competition for attention when children are at home: video games, computers, cell phones, television, and movies. It sometimes feels like I am fighting a battle between screen activity, boredom, and “mandatory fun.”

I don’t know about you, but I can relate to this battle for balance, especially during the long summertime days (hello sunshine until after 9pm!). I’m excited to use the 100 Days of Summertime planning guide to help me be more intentional about using the time we have together wisely as well as be ready to fight those battles of too much screen-time and boredom.

The 100 Days of Summertime eBook is designed for inspiration and daily guidance from Memorial Day weekend until Labor Day weekend – every day of the summer is covered!

Each page in this eBook is dated (for 2015) and includes a motivational task, activity, or event, and many pages include additional resources (list planning guide from ListPlanIt.com, a photo board on Pinterest, a link to further discussion with other busy parents on Facebook, etc.).

I love that each date includes a “Summertime Strategy” that gives me an action to take that day in order to make the most of the time with my kids this summer. And by “pre-reading” my copy of the eBook, I can use the printable monthly calendars to “rearrange” the daily strategies to work with our family’s summer schedule!

As I browsed my copy of 100 Days of Summertime, I was excited to see the printable lists in the back of the book:

  • clothing inventory (I will be using it yet this week!)
  • My21Meals planner (perfect for inspiring me to cook “lighter fare” during the summertime)
  • school supply shopping list (this will be my first year as a public school parent)
  • school lunch planner (I’m already brainstorming ideas for school lunches – I’m a crazy over-planner)
  • and so many more!

I know that this summer is going to FLY by so quickly, and I want to make the most our time together as a family. I’m excited to use this great resource to help me do just that!
