Hydration for Pregnant Moms

Hydration for Pregnant Moms

Ever since getting pregnant with baby number four, my normal water intake has been going down, and I’ve been struggling to stay hydrated and keep my electrolytes balanced. It’s caused me to feel constantly exhausted, nauseous, and generally awful – not morning sickness awful, just all day blah. I couldn’t stomach water (which I normally drink more than enough of each day), but drinking Gatorade was putting too much sugar in my system. I needed to find a way to stay hydrated and keep my electrolytes balanced for the health of myself and the baby.

I mentioned my dilemma to a friend, and she said she had a similar issue when she was pregnant with her fourth a few years ago. A mutual friend had recommended that she try using some electrolyte-replenishing hydration tablets in her water. Willing to try anything to feel better, I ordered a four-pack of Nuun Active Hydration tablets on Amazon, using the subscribe-and-save option.

From the nuun.com website:

Nuun Active and Nuun Energy contain an optimal blend of electrolytes (na, k, mg, ca) that help keep you hydrated for all levels of activities. All Nuun tablets are low in calories, which helps promote the consumption of water without added sugars or an excessive amount of calories.

When they arrived earlier this week, I immediately popped one in my water bottle. The effervescent tablet dissolved, and I managed to drain my water bottle within the hour. This was a huge success as I’d been struggling to drain it once throughout the course of the day.

Two tablets the first day helped me to drink 64 ounces of water – not my goal, but significantly more water than I’d been drinking. The next day, I found myself facing a busy, action-packed day. I managed to empty my water bottle three times that day, and I didn’t crash at all. No feeling ill or tired!

In the week since I started using the Nuun hydration tablets (2-3/day), I’ve started feeling myself again. I have my energy levels back, I’m not sluggish or nauseous, and I’m getting the proper hydration needed for an expectant mother!

Disclosure: I’m not a doctor, nor do I claim any specific health benefits to using these tablets. I’m not being paid or compensated to share this product. I’m simply sharing what has worked for me because a friend shared it with me and I want to pass it forward.
